We are extremely excited! Remember our African Library Project? Well the books have arrived in Kenya! Woo Hoo! As many of you know we are all about highlighting BOLD people. organizations and causes that inspire us o live fearlessly! We are also about giving back and this project although it took some time was so worth it!
Please see the note we received all the way from Africa from Mr. Joel Nakitare
Senior Librarian Rongo University.
“The long awaited libraries for schools in Migori and Homabay Counties in Kenya were officially handed over on 25th May 2017 and 29th May 2017 respectively. The ceremony was well attended by the university management led by the vice Chancellor Prof. Samuel Gudu. All the participating schools and local leadership were represented in the official handover ceremony that began at 10.00 A.M with remarks from the Vice Chancellor, each recipient unveiled the books and lastly vehicles going to far flung areas were flagged off at around 11.30 A.M. All the books were picked in two days. The exercise was so memorable and touching. I likened the exercise of placing books in the hands of the young ones to dropping seeds on a good watered soil. The seeds will for sure germinate and grow to the joy of the farmer. This is the conviction that we all had when we saw the pupils happily carry boxes of books for their library.
A follow up to the schools indicate that majority have already set up their libraries and the kids have started using them.
