Red Ink Literary Corner: Spirit of Juneteenth

Spirit of Juneteenth

I’m a man

I’m a black man

I’m a God-fearing man

I’m a black man

I too am an American

Having all rights

My God-fearing birth rights

Strong Black man, American

I’m an American

black as my Africa

American too

Bleed the stars without the bars

Freedom is mine

American all the way through

I am a black man

Forefathers made the red white/black and blue

I am a black man

I am American
